The Core Fine Art Collection is pleased to showcase work from artists Mr. Brainwash and Jonas Leriche at Nightbird Recording Studios in West Hollywood, CA. This collaboration underscores The Core Fine Art’s commitment to nurturing discourse within the creative community of Los Angeles. With a focus on the intersection of visual art and music, this partnership highlights the harmonious collaboration between The Core Fine Art and Nightbird Recording Studios.
The strategic placement of Mr. Brainwash and Jonas Leriche’s pieces in both the lobby bar and Studio A, respectively, aims to facilitate a seamless transition for guests as they engage in creative work. This arrangement allows visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the studio environment while also connecting with the visual narratives of the artworks.
Crafted from upcycled broken vinyl records, Mr. Brainwash’s “Marilyn Monroe” captures the spirit of the legendary actress and singer it commemorates. Using quarter-inch vinyl cuts that include the records’ colorful labels, Mr. Brainwash skillfully reproduces one of Monroe’s famous portraits.
The incorporation of this unique material serves as an homage to the legendary star and prompts contemplation on the decline of physical media in the digital age. Reflecting on his collection, Mr. Brainwash states, “I wanted to take singers that spent their whole lives singing for us and make them live forever with what they sold.”
“Marilyn Monroe” exhibited for the first time at Mr. Brainwash’s sold out show, 2010 Icons: Part One in New York City’s Meatpacking District. The overwhelming success of the exhibition led to an extension through May and again until September, reopening as Icons Remix
Displayed in another section of the studio, Jonas Leriche presents “Vanity Skull Silver Crocodile,” a one-of-a-kind, unique sculpture cast out of resin, using a real human skull model. The sculpture features an overlay of silver-dyed crocodile skin, accentuated by over five thousand Swarovski crystals, meticulously hand-set across its entirety.
In his work, Leriche often considers themes of mortality, impermanence and the transient nature of existence. The skull, an emblem of death, serves as a reminder of these existential themes. Furthermore, within the context of Nightbird Recording Studios, the skull takes on additional significance. Rooted in the rebellious ethos of rock and roll, it symbolizes a defiance against societal norms and conventions. Its presence in this iconic studio space serves to underscore a spirit of rebellion and artistic individuality.
