The New Renaissance

Paris is one of the global epicenters for the classical art that Alva deconstructs. Unveiling his work at the Ritz Paris, Place Vendôme not far from the Louvre allows him to dialogue directly with the ghosts of the European Masters who he reimagines.

The Core is thrilled to represent Dan Alva, an American contemporary artist, born into a distinguished lineage of Spanish artists, carrying forward a rich artistic heritage while forging his own contemporary vision. He spent his childhood working alongside his father and largely credits his craft to him.

Based in Miami, Alva takes the classics and reinvents them for a modern-day audience. He re-masters the masters and creates undoubtedly alluring work. His bold and unapologetic pieces are incredibly intricate, as he combines his figurative visual language with bursts of camouflage, stripes, and other patterns.

Dan Alva reimagines Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and other masters as a fluid landscape of memories, where forms emerge and disappear in an interplay of color and abstraction.
